Re: engines seem locked up

I have a 91, 41ft with 502's. I have rebuilt both and chose to slide them up the companionway on 4x8 plank, after stripping down to Short Blocks. I was afraid to screw with the window openings. Once on the Aft Deck it was easy to pick them up with a Boom.

Re: Refrigerator Replacement

Remember standard Frig like the GE's on newer Marinette's have a defrost circuit that is a Heater with a timer that drains batteries fast. Consider disabling that feature.

Re: Fresh Water Tanks

Do any of you guys have your Water Tanks electrically Bonded together and are they Bonded to the Engine ?
I notice my Fuel Tanks are Bonded together and the Sending Unit is "above Ground". The Sending Unit on the Water Tank is also "above Ground"

Re: net wt.

My Boat was shipped down from DC and Bridge was laid on fore Deck. But a lot of the wiring that did not unplug was cut, which means both VHF antennas, both FM radios Speaker wiring etc, my Depth Finder, Gas Alarms
Antenna cables are not meant to be spliced.
It was a real mess.

Re: Exhaust in the cabin

I had a 32 Sedan for 12 years and never noticed the problem, but always had fwd port holes or hatch open. Only a Following Sea/Tail wind was a problem.

Fresh Water Tanks

My tanks have started leaking maybe due to City Water chemicals and the PO use of small amounts of Clorox. I've checked for Bonding corrosion. Do any of the archives have the original shop Drawings ? What's the current opinion on Aluminum vs Poly plastics ? These tanks are 75 gal and 40x21x21".

Correct me if I'm wrong, i thought it was a standard automotive style but had a 1/8" bypass hole drilled in it.

Re: Shakespeare VHF/AM/FM Band separator

Ben, it has too much signal loss. I would use separate antennas for best xmit and reception.
